Salon Price Hike 2025: What Salon Owners and Hair and Beauty Professionals Need to Know

From January 1, 2025, salons and beauty parlours in Maharashtra will implement a salon price hike, following a unanimous decision by the Maharashtra State Salon Beauty Parlour Association. The move aims to address rising product costs and improve artisan wages.

Additionally, it is anticipated that the government might propose a 28% GST on salon services, potentially impacting overall service costs.

Revised Rates for 2025

Key changes include:

  • Beard Cutting: ₹75–₹165 (up from ₹60–₹150).
  • Haircuts: ₹120–₹320 (up from ₹100–₹300).
  • Beauty Parlour Services Price Increase: Facials, pedicures, manicures, and hair colouring, straightening and re-bonding will rise by 30%.

Reason for the Price Hike

  1. Rising Costs: Increased prices of beauty products and salon supplies.
  2. Wage Adjustments: Higher salaries for artisans and stylists to reflect their skill and effort.

“We believe customers will understand the need for these changes,” said Uday Takke, Maharashtra in-charge of the association.

New Opportunities for Salon Professionals

The price hike is expected to bring better earnings for stylists, technicians, and salon owners. With increased rates, businesses can invest in training and improve service quality.

Key Details from the 2024 Salon Association Meeting

The rate revisions were finalized in Thane during a meeting attended by key leaders, including Maharashtra State President Prasad Chavan, Mumbai President Tushar Chavan, General Secretary Kisanrao Kohale, Mumbai Vice President Sandeep Badrike, Mulund President Mahanand Zende, Thane Secretary Mandar Raut, and Maharashtra In-charge Uday Takke.

The association capped basic services at a 20% increase while allowing a 30% hike for premium services, ensuring a balance between affordability for customers and sustainability for businesses.

Impact on Your Business

Salon professionals should:

  • Update rate cards to reflect new prices.
  • Communicate price changes to clients in advance.
  • Leverage higher income to improve service quality and retain skilled staff.

By planning ahead, salons and beauty parlours can turn this price adjustment into an opportunity for growth and better service.
